Ginger and chocolate is a delicious combination! Being that ginger is such a powerful spice, both in taste and in health benefits, I find that pairing it with chocolate brings an enjoyable balance. The same can be said about turmeric. Which is why I decided to create some chocolate bars that included both of these stellar spices!
If you saw my post on candied ginger and turmeric, than you know where we are getting the delicious morsels that fill these chocolate bars. And making the chocolate is a cinch! You can use any candy mold you have, it doesn’t have to be in the form of a bar. Of course you can use ginger or turmeric when it comes to the spices instead of both. In my notes below, I mention that you can use some of the ginger or turmeric syrup from making the candied morsels as well. So make sure you refer to that post for instructions.
Enjoy making (and nibbling) on this healthy, anti-inflammatory chocolate treat!
1) Prepare the candied ginger & turmeric, then mince it into tiny pieces suitable for a candy bar.
2) Melt the chocolate over low heat, along with the coconut oil and syrup. Maple syrup makes a great choice, but if you are in the mood for an extra kick, try 1/4 cup of ginger or turmeric syrup and 1/4 cup maple syrup!
3) Once melted, pour the chocolate mixture into your candy bar molds, only filling half way. Then sprinkle the ginger and turmeric pieces evenly across the chocolate bar. Top it off with the remaining chocolate so that the ginger and turmeric are covered.
4) Place the candy bars into your freezer to firm up. This should take about an hour. Chop them up, or eat the whole thing! You can store these in your refrigerator or freezer…up to you! Makes 6 (3 oz) chocolate bars.
